Software Environments

- Arduino IDE using add-on cores: stm32duino, arduino-esp32

What are the advantages and disadvantages of each of these platforms? Are there any impossible actions in any of them, or is the same set of capabilities exposed?

Open questions:
- Can we access all registers on the chip?
- Can we use other libraries for the chip/board?
Different Arduino backends expose different functionality; none seem complete at the time of this writing. The 2 best options for the L476RG are:
- STM32duino's Arduino_Core_STM32
- GrumpyOldPizza's arduino-STM32L4
Grumpy's library required some hacking to add DAC capability.
Questions:
Is it worth adapting Grumpy's lib to the 303K8?
What changes are worth making (and submitting) to the stm32duino core?
